Conversations That Matter: Enterprising Families and Generational Wealth
Tim Habbershon
Dr. Timothy Habbershon has spent most of his life exploring how families talk to each other. He first pursued a deeper understanding of family relationships and communication during his academic study of psychology, religion, and business. From his time as a minister to his work as a family business consultant and now in his role as a thought leader and coach for families of wealth, he continues to formalize a simple idea: We can be better. We can learn the skills of communication that foster better relationships.
To further his focus on helping families, Dr. Habbershon founded the Fidelity Center for Family Engagement (FCFE). FCFE offers wealth advisors and families thought leadership, learning experiences, and coaching on how to communicate in a deeper, more intimate way in their money, wealth, and estate planning conversations. Dr. Habbershon’s current thought leadership work blends his personal and professional passions for healthy generational relationships. As one of 70 million baby boomers, he is researching how baby boomer families like his engage in multigenerational conversations around the later-in-life topics important to their family and wealth transition. Dr. Habbershon’s wife Allison and his four adult children, in-laws, and 11 grandchildren are all part of his transition journey. He too believes he can be better.
